The Grand Savio College reunion was held on the weekend of 18-20 October 2024 and over 50 old boys from Boys' Town and Savio College, in their late 60s, 70s and even their 80s enjoyed some time together.
The organising committee, made up of Tony Webb, Geoffrey Abel, Denis Bergman, John Stefankowski and Paul Williams, did a great job in firstly tracking down many old scholars, using email, word of mouth and social media, then staying in touch with them as the events were planned.
Of course, some could not attend but we hope they can join us on another occasion, perhaps in five years!Â
On the Friday afternoon the men gathered in the Rua Hub (the Rathole, Basement, Recreation Rooms, or Dungeon depending on your era) to enjoy some drinks and catching up. Tony Webb mc-ed, Acting Principal Jan Marcenko welcomed the old scholars, as did DOSA Chair Matt Taylor. Their were some photos and memorabilia for sharing and Paul Williams presented his "magnum opus" the selection of the Dominic Old Scholars team of all-time, which included players such as Ian Stewart, Paul Williams, James Manson and Andy Lovell.
On Saturday old scholars shared a meal at the Riverfront Motel at Claremont, and some wives and partners attended this function.
Finally, a barbecue was prepared at É«ÇéÖ±²¥ and a hearty picnic lunch was enjoyed by all. There was a bit of a walk around the school and a visit to the Dominic Chapel, built on the site of the destroyed Savio Chapel that they all remembered well.

Thank you very much to the organising committee, to the staff at É«ÇéÖ±²¥ who assisted with preparations and to all the old scholars who attended and contributed to a very successful reunion.
