Some tips for Maths success

Mathematics may not be able to teach us how to solve all our problems but it definitely teaches us that every problem has a solution.

I’m just no good at maths. We hear it a lot, but it is very seldom true. While it is true that some people are better at math than others, just like some are better than others at writing or drama or playing an instrument or anything else—it is also true that the vast majority of people are fully capable of learning K–10 mathematics.

Learning mathematics does not come as naturally as learning to speak, but our brains are equipped to learn math. So, learning math is somewhat like learning to read or learning to ride a bike or learning to drive: we can do it, but it takes time and effort, and requires mastering increasingly complex skills and content.

You need to keep telling yourself that you will be able to do it but maybe just not yet.

So if you are one of those students who find math more difficult than other subjects, then I would say to you that you can start to find math easy with some persistence and hard work.

I would recommend you follow some tips for math success.

Some Tips for Maths Success

  • Practise, practise, practise. It is impossible to study maths properly by just reading and listening.
  • Do all of the homework. Don’t ever think of homework as a choice.
  • Review errors, analyse and understand every mistake.
  • Understand your doubts.
  • Get help fast to clear your doubts.
  • Don’t be afraid to make mistakes as you learn more from your mistakes than by getting all answers correct.
  • Take time to read the questions carefully.
  • Get enough quality sleep. Your brain needs sleep to reset brain connections that are important for memory and learning.
