Old scholars impress in DOSA reserves win

Both DOSA teams are now through to the grand final next week!

The DOSA seniors qualified by defeating Richmond last week at Richmond in the qualifying final. Now this weekend the DOSA reserves had a great win over Richmond in the preliminary final at North Hobart. The grand finals are on at North Hobart next Saturday 22 September.

The game started in gloomy, chilly rain and wind and both sides were a little tentative with strong, gusting winds affecting the kicking. Both sides kicked just a single goal with Richmond up by three points at quarter time.

The second quarter ranged back and forth, with goals to old schoalrs Cam Golding and Patrick Carroll giving DOSA the edge by six points at half time.

Classy transition play on the wing, especially from Damon Curtain proved decisive in the third quarter as did Daniel Warwarek's strength behind the ball and the flying tap work from Brad Tuffin. Richmond wee held to just four behinds by desperate DOSA defence, while the Roosters rebound playallowed some valuable goals to register a handy 17 point lead at 3/4 time.

The final quarter was a slog initially and then hard rain and sleet drove across the ground. DOSA's strength was consistent and they kicked four goals to two to wrap up another grand final appearance: 10 10 70 to 5 10 40.

It was an impressive effort by the whole team, and the hard working youth in the team celebrated the formerly premiership favourites departure.
