Dear Students, Parents, Caregivers, Teachers and Friends,
I take this opportunity to inform you that the Salesian Provincial, Fr Will Matthews SDB, has announced the changes for 2019 which affect the Salesian Community here at Dominic.
In January 2019 I will conclude my term as Acting Rector of the College and Parish Priest at St John’s and will transfer to the Salesian Community at Chadstone, Victoria. Fr Peter Rankin returns to Glenorchy to resume his appointment as Rector of the Salesian Community and from 2019 will also be Rector of É«ÇéÖ±²¥. My replacement as Parish Priest at St John’s will be Fr Guy Riolo SDB, currently Assistant Priest at the parish of St Mary’s NSW.
You will be sorry to learn that Brother Michael Morrow has been transferred to Salesian College, Sunbury in Victoria and will be replaced at É«ÇéÖ±²¥ by Brother Barry Parker, currently on the staff at Sunbury. Father Greg Chambers, who returns shortly from his study tour in the Holy Land, will be moving to Chadstone in Victoria as Rector of the Community and Salesian College. Father Damien Sladen will remain at É«ÇéÖ±²¥ in 2019 and Father Nick Castelyns has already returned to Samoa.
It is with a heavy heart that I contemplate my move from É«ÇéÖ±²¥ which has been a part of my life for such a long time and from St. John’s Parish which I have grown to love over the last 10 years. I know that Brother Michael, who has been an influence for good on students, staff and parents also for 10 years feels the same. I ask your prayers for myself and the other members of the Salesian Community as we prepare for a time of transition and the opportunities to serve God’s People in the spirit handed on to us by our founder Don Bosco.
Fr Lawrie Moate SDB - Acting Rector
