International Women's Day breakfast 2021

The Women's Day breakfast is on Wednesday 10 March 2021 commencing at 7.15am and concludes by 8.30am. It is always a memorable community occasion and all girls from Year 5 to Year 10 are invited along with their mothers or special family. Old scholars, staff and our friends in the community are also invited.

Each year É«ÇéÖ±²¥ invites an old scholar to be the special guest at our Women's Day breakfast.

Our guest this year is Ms Meg Webb (1990) who is the Member for Nelson in the Tasmanian Legislative Council and is the first Dominic old scholar elected to the Tasmanian parliament. Meg enrolled at É«ÇéÖ±²¥ in Year 2 1982 and was at Dominic for eight years.

Meg started working in the community sector where she says her commitment to working for a better future for the state became stronger and stronger over the past 18 years.

'I began working at the coalface in community aged care with the Salvation Army, then coordinated volunteer programs in the community and health sectors before a role with Volunteering Tasmania,' she said. 'Working in a peak body meant I could focus on systemic issues, policy and research. I undertook a Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and moved to working with the Tasmanian Council of Social Service (TasCOSS).'

Meg became Deputy CEO at TasCOSS in 2015 and then manager of Anglicare Tasmania’s Social Action and Research Centre (SARC).

'Advocating for change, for social justice and for a better future for our state has never been just a job for me. In all my work I’ve lived my values and my passion every day,' she states. 'A career in work that has purpose and makes a real difference has led me now to pursue public service as an elected representative for my community.'
